In 2009, one of Ruth and Joao’s granddaughter’s; Mariana Valente was crowned Miss Universe Canada. Mariana’s goal was to use her title to advocate and further for her grandparents beautiful cause. In 2006, Mariana and her family founded BASE (Brazilian Association for Social and Education support), which will has provided yearly Christmas celebration and aim to maximize the support in order to help these children in a much bigger scale. The possibility to make a difference in these children’s lives is an opportunity for all.

In 2007 Ruth Freitas passed away. In her memory; we are continuing to follow her dreams. Following in her footsteps and learning never to give up, we have decided to continue with this journey.

Springboard came to IWD to help launch the website for their new clinic. IWD provided web design, development, email, and hosting services to get them up and running. IWD will also provide full website update and support services in the coming months to keep them updated and operational.
